Beyond the Bridge: From Strutter President to Educator and Varsity Cheer Coach!

Posted Date: 04/21/26 (09:00 PM)

We are excited to feature Jessica Green Class of 2015 in our alumni spotlight!

Jessica has taken the leadership skills she learned at BCHS and turned them into a powerhouse career. After graduating from Lamar University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Art and Science, Jessica became state-certified in ELAR (Grades 7-12). Today, she serves as an English 1 Teacher and Varsity Cheer Coach at Nederland HS!

Under her leadership, her team has reached incredible heights—including becoming UIL State Finalists and performing on the national stage in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Jessica credits her time as President of the Strutters for her success. Working side-by-side with Mrs. Cathy Riley, she learned the "ins and outs" of directing a team.

The BCHS Impact:
"Mrs. Riley truly prepared me for stepping into a coaching position and becoming a role model. She taught me how to show grace, patience, celebrate wins, and to think on my toes."

Jessica’s advice for current Cardinals:
“Be a part of all that’s offered. Never be afraid to try new things and get involved. It helps you see what you like and who you are.” ️
